Board strategy

Chess

The whole game, properly implemented. Castling, en passant, promotion, stalemate, threefold repetition and the fifty-move rule are all here, with an opponent that plays real chess at six strengths.

How to play

Select a piece and then a highlighted square, or drag it. On a keyboard, tab to the board, move the cursor with the arrow keys, and press Enter to pick a piece up and put it down. Press F at any time to flip the board.

Modes

Versus Computer plays a full game against a search engine running in your browser. Two Players shares one device, with the board flip and the clocks handling the turn change. Puzzles and theDaily Puzzle give you a position with one winning move to find.

Scoring

A win is worth more against a stronger setting and on a faster clock, with a small bonus for a short game. Puzzle points come from the puzzle's rating and halve with each wrong move. Hints and take backs subtract points and make the run unranked. Two-player games are never scored.

Fair play

Results are stored on this device. Public leaderboards and the ranked Daily remain unavailable until HitPuzzles enables server-issued runs and server-side replay verification.
